I complete the third instalment of my Ruff Stuff track breakdowns. Over the last couple of months we’ve looked over the drums, then the leads and fxs, and now its time to showcase how i created the bassline and mid bass sounds for the track.

The tutorial this month is a drum track breakdown of my latest release 'Ruff Stuff'. I guide you through the samples chosen, processing, arrangement and some really useful tips and tricks along the way. Sit back and enjoy the hour long session.

For this tutorial I will be guiding you through a mixdown of a new dubstep track I have coming out early 2026.

In just under 2 hours, I show you my final mixdown checklist and work through it in real time to create a more polished and club ready track.

I get a lot of tracks for feedback where the mids are really static and don't feel like they're part of the track, so I put a dry demo track together to demonstrate how I would approach bringing the track to life. 

This goes a step further looking at some of the atmospherics, vocal sample and fxs as well.

For this production bundle's tutorial video I look over Stay Hungry, a track that featured on my EP 'Turn The Tape' which dropped on Flexout Audio in 2024.

More specifically I'll be walking you through the bass design and how I created the main mid range sound, arranged and processed it to fit with the rest of the vibe of the track.

For this bundle, I take a look back over 'Break' with Hugh Hardie taken from my 'Lotus' EP. I wanted to focus specifically on how we started this project and it began with a sound design session.

You will get to hear all of the raw sounds as i explain how we created them, then I move onto implementation and how we constructed the initial loop and main theme of the track. There are loads of tips and tricks in this one especially with audio processing.

Taken from my debut EP on Halogenix's Gemini Gemini imprint, I look back over A Lot To Give and show you the inner workings of this track.

I will go over sampling techniques, how to make them more your own as well as drum processing and sub bass production.

Inside the production pack, I show you how to make stabs inside of Serum. This technique can be evolved and taken so far and its a really versatile way to add rhythm to your track.

I create 2 unique sounds and demonstrate how to edit and control the tone giving you the best starting point to reverse engineer and tweak into your own sound. 

Inside this production bundle, I have put together a long sound design session. I didn't have any focus or direction for this but ended up creating loads of really cool atmospherics that can be bounced down into a sample pack.

I jump into these sessions whenever I have writers block, lacking creativity or just want to sit and have fun making noises for a while. These sessions can really help take the pressures away from writing and also top up my own sound bank for use in a future project.

The focus of this bundles tutorial was to not only engage with my members but also to challenge myself. I asked the Discord community to send me sounds they love in some of their favourite tracks to see if I can recreate them.

This is not supposed to be a tutorial about how to sound like your favourite artists but the process along the way, and for me to show you new ways of thinking about synthesis and sound design.

Two tutorials are available with this bundle, the first showcases mid bass modulation in serum and how to create unique results with a simple preset to layer and adapt your rhythm and sound.

The second is for making atmospheric drones again with simple layering techniques to create full and rich intros.  

For this month's tutorial I walk you through a simple pad layering technique to create rich and full music beds with interesting movement and dynamics using just one sample.

I use this technique a lot when building intro's and is a great way of adding complexity to an otherwise basic sound

This month’s tutorials take a more creative approach. The first focuses on creating unique atmospherics by MIDI mapping parameters across different plugins and experimenting while recording. I also show free alternatives to the paid plugins used.

The second is a 1.5-hour, no-talking guide to building a track from a simple idea into a solid set of loops. I cover drum layering and EQ, generating mid-bass sounds and movement, creating pads and leads from melodic samples, and more.

In this bundle I once again looking at sub bass but this time focussing it all about movement, how to give your basslines groove, funk and swing for those head bouncing tracks. 

For the second tutorial we're going to get very experimental. I show off some techniques that can really transform a sound from it origin to a whole other level. This is one of my favourite topics as it can be so free with no rules and is always a lot of fun.

This month i dive back into drums showing you how i put samples together, layering, rhythm, groove, buss processing and boosting the overall weight and level. 

After that I go through your sample submissions and play around resampling and having a bit of fun making new sounds and variations showing loads of little ways to get more out of your sounds and to maybe think about more creative approaches that you haven't seen before.

For the second tutorial, i wanted to get more creative behind how to make fxs, more specifically uplifters and downshifters. For years i just searched riser in my sample library and ended up with the same bland and overused sample. I teach you the fundamentals of synthesising your own samples that goes way beyond just pitching up and down.
